A crooked cut means the blade is not tracking square in the kerf. Low tension, guides that no longer support the band, uneven teeth, or feed that shoves the blade off line are more common than “the wrong product family.” Note whether the cut leans for the whole length, starts straight then drifts, or wanders left and right. Do not expect a same-size replacement to straighten the cut if the saw is still out of setup.
What the cut is telling you
- The whole face is tilted: guides are not square to the table, or the two sides are worn unequally.
- Straight at first, then worse: tension is low, the blade is dull, or feed rises as the cut deepens.
- Left–right wander with a shiny or fuzzy face: tracking is unstable; check wheel tires and bearings. This often shows up with noise and vibration.

Check the blade or the saw first?
- A new blade still cuts crooked: start with tension, guide spacing, distance from guides to the work, table, and clamping.
- An old blade suddenly drifts: look for one-sided tooth wear, lost set, or a shiny, scored back edge.
- Replacing the blade without resetting guides almost always brings the lean back.

Pitch and feed can also steer the cut
Too few teeth in the cut puts a high load on each tooth and lets the band be pushed aside. Too many teeth pack chips, lift the blade, and make the kerf unstable. Feed should let teeth enter the material rather than glaze the surface; glazing can work-harden the face and make drift worse.

Is a crooked cut always low tension?
Low tension is common, but not the only cause. Guides out of square, a dull blade, and heavy feed also drift. Check guides and the table before you crank tension, so you do not overstretch the band.
Can I increase feed to force a crooked cut straight?
No. More feed usually makes the lean worse and can strip teeth or break the blade. Reduce feed, square the guides, then decide whether the blade is still usable.
Does a wandering curve cut on wood count as “crooked”?
Curve cutting needs a blade narrow enough for the radius. A blade that is too wide will drift and wrinkle on the back. That looks like tracking error but is often the wrong width.
The new blade still cuts crooked. Should I keep replacing blades?
Do not use several blades as a test. If a new blade still leans, tracking or guides are not restored. Photograph the guides, wheels, and old tooth line, then use the Technical Center or an RFQ.
